A little flow chart showing how a dinosaur skeleton becomes a fossil. I did this a few weeks ago in Photoshop. 🙂

Colored Pencil and Digital. 11″ x 17″
I love this piece a lot. The skin patterning is based off of the African Wild Dog for anyone who’s interested. Shoot me a message (if that’s possible on WordPress) or email me for a print if you want one! 🙂

Brachiosaurus
Mandarin Duck
Colored Pencil, Watercolor, Digital. 17″ x 11″
I did this for a gallery show that’s going on as we speak in Minneapolis. I had a blast drawing him and honestly he might be my favorite illustration so far (I’m working on a Brachiosaurus that I’m falling in love with, though…).
Prints are available if you are interested.

Barn Owls
Scratch Board. 9 x 12″
I love these guys. The main barn owl was actually done years ago for a class project. So when I was getting my portfolio submission for Cal State, Monterey Bay (they have a really prestigious Science Illustration program and YES! I got in!!) I thought that I could add it to the group. Unfortunately, when I was in class, the goal was to practice the technique and not come up with an original image, so I just took a Google barn owl and copied it. After realizing that for me to include it would be totally plagiarized, I got the idea to add a second owl, change what they were perched on, fatten up the main owl as well as add and remove  feathers, and change the foot posture. Plus after it was all done I flipped the image vertically so they’re facing the opposite direction from the original. So the main owl is no longer the owl I used for reference and I can sleep easy. 🙂
